NASCAR is in a predicament that they continually find their self in with Sterling races as late as they do now. In about 15 minutes, they will have to make the decision to postpone the race until Monday afternoon because Sunday night football starts at 8:20 and there will be no potential for them to complete the race the conflicting with the game.
NASCAR should never have moved the Cup Series’ start times back to between 2 PM and 3:30 PM to avoid this conflict; however, the NASCAR season needs to end earlier to avoid this looing potential. It is not feasible for the season to end before Labor Day but the NASCAR schedule should effectively mirror that of the IndyCar series schedule. Starting in February is not a problem but ending November 3 is the issue of conflicting directly with mainstream football. Races at Crystal, Richmond, rode America and Otherworld courses and shore transit will not be able to compete with football TV ratings but having more than a half cup races with the current package really hurts the opportunity for NASCAR to survive against football.
