25-Nick Ottinger wins crazy Coca-cola iRacing Series Playoff race at Kansas Speedway

Wow, that finish was wild! There were two multi-car accidents in the final two laps.

There is no reason Nock Ottinger and Michael Conti couldn’t pass Jarl Teien, Phil Diaz and Michael Guarglia earlier than Ottinger did. This series uses Aerodynamic packages that are similar or the same as the NASCAR Cup Series. At the same point that Kevin[Harvick] caught but couldn’t pass Joey [Logano] in the Hollywood Casino 400, the eventual race winner [Ottinger] ran into the same barrier – air- a component that cannot be seen. It’s appalling that NASCAR has any speaking power in this eSports league. It’s named “NASCAR” but this rules package absolutely ruined the race.

Drivers contributed to the wrecks as always is the case. Bonehead moves that otherwise would have been more calculated to be high-percentage passes were poorly executed because drivers have an immense pressure to perform well. The drivers who finish 21st and lower in the final season standings are relegated to compete in the Pro Series during their off-season attempting to renew their eligibility under even greater pressure.

Congratulations to Nick Ottinger on the win though. He locks himself into to the Championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 28. He and winner of the Roval at Charlotte Bobby Zalenski are going to rest easy this week and next knowing they are safe.
