Bubba Wallace to drive for Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan in 2021
Denny Hamlin announced that he will partner with Michael Jordan to form a new race team starting in the 2021 season. As expected, Wallace will drive for the team. Toyota Racing Development and Toyota Racing USA will most likely support the team. Multiple sources suggest Wallace will bring $15 to $20 Million of sponsorship money.
I never knew that Jordan grew up in North Carolina as a race fan. This is significant for NASCAR in its intirety because Michael Jordan is one of the most popular sports idols in the world and Bubba Wallace has become popular and polarizing over the past three months or so. Everybody involved in the team seems optimistic. However, Wallace will have immense pressure on him every week to win races. If Nike supports Wallace in the smallest capacity, he could benefit tremendously from it,
I’m not completely confident that Joe Gibbs will allow this team to outperform his four team at the minimalist rate. Going back to encompass own in Xfinity Series team, jobs immediately put a stop to that when the 54 car was consistently winning races and Joe Gibbs racing drivers were not. We’ll have to wait and see how this team develops.
More information about the team will be released at a later date.
