Colton Herta is only 21 years old and is in the midst of his sophomore season. He currently drives the no. 88 Capstone/Gess Honda for Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Racing.
He was impressive in this afternoon’s Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio, the second of this weekend’s doublehead. He qualified on the Pole or first place more simply put. His speed was evident during the race too. He led 57 laps and his fastest lap was 117.639 MPH (69.0996 seconds).
9-Scott Dixon posted the fastest lap on Lap 51 at 119.001 MPH (68.3089 seconds).
Pato O’Ward was the highest finishing Rookie of the Year contender (6th).
Looking Forward: The drivers have approximately 19 days until the Harvest Grand Prix at Indy Race 1 on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 3:30 PM ET/12:30 PM PT.
Scott Dixon won the last race competed on the Road Course layout at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 6. Somehow, he doesn’t seem to be favored. Hondas led the field on the results in the Top-5 positions in this race and Alexander Rossi is starting to hit his stride. In a normal season, Rossi peaking at this point would be considered to be peaking too late. But, this season is far from normal. Rossi said he’s “just gaining momentum looking towards next season” in his interview after the race.
Rossi needs to win this season and he’ll do it on October 2.
