83-Bobby Zalenski started on Pole (1:45.003) in the Coca-cola iRacing Series’ inaugural race at the Daytona Road Course. He led every lap and won by nearly 19 seconds over 46-Jimmy Mullis, who spent the majority of the race in second place.
After watching the race on Casey Kirwin’s Twitch Channel, I acknowledge that he possesses high-percentage skill, talent, and racing acuity. He typically competes between fifteenth and twenty-fifth; unfortunately, he doesn’t receive due recognition. I gained a renewed appreciation for those who don’t receive any recognition unless they wreck or finish in the Top-10.
The race was not entertaining (45%); however, those drivers were afforded practice time. I am concerned that the national series races will be underwhelmingly boring after viewing the race last night on a fixed playing field.
