Josef Newgarden will win the 2020 IndyCar Series Championship

Grand Prix Of Saint Petersburg goes to Josef Newgarden

The Grand Prix of Saint Petersburg is the first race of the NTT IndyCar Series season. Last season, 2-time and Defending Champion Josef Newgarden won this race in dominant fashion. Newgarden is a prohibitive favorite each week during the season based on merit of skills and his affiliation to Team Penske, am IndyCar juggernaut. I contend Newgarden will defend his victory by winning the race again, going one step closer to become a 3-time champion.

Josef Newgarden to win 5 more races.

In addition to his win in Saint Petersburg, he will go back-to-back in Long Beach. Then, he will lead the most laps and win the Chevrolet Duel in Detroit, Race 1; win the Grand Prix at Road America, win in Iowa, and win in Portland. I expect Alexander Rossi, Colton Herta, Scott Dixon, and his teammates Will Power and Simon Pagenaud. Rossi and Herta will win 3 games, and be 2nd in 3rd place in points, respectively.

Josef Newgarden will lock up the Championship before Portland.

Leading into the Grand Prix of Portland, Newgarden will lead Alexander Rossi by 37 points. Portland will be Newgarden’s personal playground however. He will qualify on Pole and become the “Prohibitive Favorite” to win. In the race, he will lead the most laps, win, and leave the race after gaining 20 points on Rossi. Thus, he will undoubtedly lock the 2020 championship up mathematically.
