Kevin can rest easier now knows he will race in the Championship 4 in 2 weeks at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Is he now the odds-on favorite to win it all?
Harvick won Stage 1 and lead 119 laps, the highest number of laps led in the race. He captured the victory and punched his ticket to Homestead. He goes to his favorite stop on the NASCAR Cup Series on November 10. He is the odds-on favorite to win the Bluegreen 500(k) at ISM Raceway (Phoenix). He doesn’t need to win but he probably will.
In the larger picture, Joe Gibbs Racing was behind the 8 ball. Lately, at Homestead in particular, Kyle Busch has been 3rd or 4th-best championship-eligible driver. Martin Truex Jr. dominated the race at Martinsville but was an obvious non-factor at Texas. The lack of speed from Busch, Truex Jr., amd Denny Hamlin is extremely concerning. Harvick moves onto Homestead as the odds-on favorite to capture his 2nd championship in this decade.
