Joe Gibbs Racing announced recently that Kansas Lottery 300 race winner Brandon Jones will return to their #19 team in 2020.
Brandon Jones needs to prove he is worthy driving for a five-star team, like Gibbs nest year. Similar to his colleague on the Cup Team Erik Jones, Joe Gibbs Racing extended him for 1 year. Next year become becomes a ‘win or bust’ year for Jones. He needs a win to qualify for the Playoffs, but it looks like he’ll be one of the five drivers, at most, with at least five years of experience, who drives for a four-star or five-star team. Chastain, and Allgaier and Annett if they return, are the other most experienced drivers.
In terms of coverage next season, I’m leaning towards Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota for my primary category while introducing #RookieSpotlight for the first three NASCAR Cup Series races. Stay tuned!
